Sunrise Loxahatchee

Faint glow rising in the Eastern sky
  The darkness starts to fade
The stars slide gently beneath the blue
And the warm light floods the glade

  Sunrise Loxahatchee
When the shadows start to shrink
  Watchful creatures head for water
  For their early morning drink
  Sunrise
  Loxahatchee

Kites out hunting for apple snails
  Gator warming in the sun
Mud turtle slipping through the cypress swamp
  A new day has begun

  Sunrise Loxahatchee
When the world is born anew
Heart and soul get a fresh commencement
When the sun comes shining through
  Sunrise
  Loxahatchee

  Students testing the river's health
  By buggy, boat, and canoe
find the cypress stunted when the salt seeps in
And the cabbage palm's in trouble, too

  Sunrise Loxahatchee
There's a lot mor we must do
So the wild and scenic river flows
For our kids and grandkids, too
  Sunrise Loxahatchee
When the world is born anew
Heart and soul get a fresh commencement
When the sun comes shining through
  Sunrise
  Loxahatchee
